Global Health in Context: Linking Census Data to Health Surveys using IPUMS DHS and IHGIS Workshop

This workshop introduced two free IPUMS data collections: Demographic and Health Surveys (IPUMS DHS) - harmonized individual records from DHS program surveys conducted around the world - and International Historical Geographic Information System (IPUMS IHGIS) - consistently formatted tables of population and agricultural censuses around the world. The workshop highlighted a new feature facilitating linkages between the IPUMS DHS and IHGIS databases and included a hands-on component allowing participants to download and explore linked data from IPUMS DHS and IHGIS.

Global, multi-pollutant database: Urban Air Quality Explorer

This tool gives researchers an easy way to compare air pollution measurements in urban areas, and identify strategies that protect health and support cleaner, more sustainable growth.

Hu pilot project "Data-Driven Solutions to Mitigate the Impact of Hurricanes on Private Well Drinking Water Quality and Human Health" developed publicly available data resources related to the project.

All datasets that can be used to reproduce all tables and figures presented in manuscript published in GeoHealth and its Supporting Information are stored on Harvard Dataverse (Lin, Jilei, 2026, "Replication Data for: Hybrid Supervised-Unsupervised Modeling for Post-Hurricane Private Well Contamination Risk score Using Empirical Validation and Community-Informed Assessment", https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/AIPJSF, Harvard Dataverse, V1).                                           

This project generated risk-score maps for 25 western North Carolina counties at 1 km × 1 km resolution, covering the hazard, physical vulnerability, social capacity, and composite risk score layers.

The analytic code is published as an open-source R repository, ncwell (https://github.com/water-health-opportunity-lab/ncwell), and archived on Zenodo as Lin J, Zhang J, Wei E, Shea K, Liddie JM, Hu XC, ncwell v1.0 (DOI:10.5281/zenodo.20055227).

This repository contains the analysis workflow for a data-driven framework to quantify post-hurricane private well contamination risk. The motivating problem is that hurricane-related flooding can mobilize microbial and chemical contaminants, while limited well testing and uneven disaster response capacity leave many households relying on private wells at elevated risk during the early recovery phase.

This brochure was printed and shared with all participants in Denakkanaaga, Fairbanks North Star Borough, City of Fairbanks Mayor’s office as well as with other project partners in Fairbanks and with research partners interested in this topic. The electronic version of the brochure was also shared on Facebook on the partnering groups and pages, and LinkedIn.
